A couple of days ago Asetek and PNY announced they have joined forces in order to develop a new series of water-cooled graphics cards, and today the two companies have made their first such product, the XLR8 Liquid Cooled GTX 580, official.

According to PNY, the new water cooling system employed by its latest creation is able to provide up to 30% cooler temperatures and quieter acoustics that the reference Nvidia design.

The company also mentions faster performance in the press release announcing that card, which hints at factory overclocking, but the operating clocks of the XLR8 LC GTX 580 haven't been announced yet.

What we do know however at this time is that the card will be available in two different versions, one featuring a basic closed-loop GPU water cooler, while the second one packs a more advanced CPU and GPU liquid cooler design.

“Together with Asetek, PNY will redefine the way gamers build and upgrade their PC systems,” said Nicholas Mauro, senior marketing manager, PC components for PNY.

“With a design that outperforms current equivalent air cooled models, this simple all-in-one solution will resonate deeply with gamers looking for a powerful yet affordable option.

“With tens of thousands of gamers already flocking to E3, there’s no better place to launch this product than the world’s premiere show for new technologies in computer gaming PNY GTX 580 Liquid Cooled Graphics Card products,” concluded the company's rep.

The XLR8 Liquid Cooled GTX 580 and XLR8 Liquid Cooled GTX 580 with CPU cooling graphics cards are available right now for pre-order for $579.99 and $649.99, respectively.

For a limited time only, PNY is offering the cards together with a promotional bundle which includes a 16ft HDMI to mini-HDMI cable, a custom-built PNY 8GB ‘Liquid Cooled’ USB flash drive, and a ‘Liquid Cooled’ logo t-shirt.
