The PMP retails online as well

Want to know what's really out of the hook? Well, why on earth would anyone need a 12MP camera on a media player? To show off maybe?

Anyway, it's not the first time Newman surprises us with an unexpectedly cool portable device, it's just unusual for PMP's to be equipped with monster options like this one here. The camera has been ingeniously attached to the L1200 player, without creating any aesthetic inconvenience. It can be rotated up to 180 degrees and 8X digital zooming. No to mention the fact that it features a shutter speed ranging from 1/10 to 1/2000 second and has a few pre-sets for multiple sequential shooting and leaflets.

When it comes for the Newman L1200 PMP's technical specs, there is some really cool stuff built-in the system, such as compatibility for AVI videos with up to 24 fps playback, as well as MP3 audio files. The PMP can also handle JPEG as photo file format. That's it? 12MP for JPEGs only? That's gotta suck! But, in addition, whenever needed, the user can turn it into an e-Book reader, as the device supports TXT files too. I just don't see this happening with such a rather humble screen display attached to the equation. Too bad there are no gaming capabilities, FM tuner or GPS feature added to the recipe. That would have added extra points.

The way I see it, the only issue when using the device should be the not-so-generous 3 inch QVGA screen, with support for 260k colors. It just won't allow decent video playback, as expected. As for the file transfer management, it's done via the USB 2.0 interface, so it should work smoothly. Sadly, there is no official word on the real internal storage capacity, but no matter the size, the makers included an SD and MMC card slots for an extra boost.

What's really cool is the fact that the player can also connect to a TV and it can actually record directly to the unit. Another major reason why this super player could be a real pain in the ass for some Chinese competitors is its rather accessible price tag. Newman L1200 PMP costs only 132 bucks as opposed to some other shamefully expensive clones I know.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
