Green group PETA is now asking that the Department of Agriculture in the United States save an abused elephant by the name Nosey.

The man that the elephant needs to be saved from is Hugo Tommy Liebel, the current operator of the Liebel Family Circus.

On its website, the organization details that, up until now, Hugo Tommy Liebel has been hundreds of times accused of having violated the country's Animal Welfare Act.

Still, the Department of Agriculture has continued to allowed it to put Nosey on display and use it to make a profit, PETA says.

The organization hopes that its pleas will convince the Department not to renew Hugo Tommy Liebel's license to display Nosey.

“The federal license allowing the notorious Hugo Tommy Liebel to exhibit a neglected elephant named Nosey will expire on January 30. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has cited Liebel with nearly 200 Animal Welfare Act (AWA) violations, yet it has renewed his license year after year,” PETA writes.

Furthermore, “Liebel’s decades-long abuse and neglect of Nosey must end, and PETA is urging the USDA to refuse to renew his license once and for all.”

According to PETA, Nosey has been shackled with short chains, denied vet care, and even shocked with electric prods.

The organization asks that those who wish to help it save Nosey send a letter to the USDA and demand that Hugo Tommy Liebel's federal license not be renewed.
