A few days ago, someone in Oceanside, California – we are yet unsure as to whether it was a man or a woman – decided to enjoy a few laughs at the expense of a turtle. Thus, he/she/they taped the animal to some helium balloons and sent it flying sky high, up until the balloons, together with the turtle, got stuck in a tree.

Green-oriented organization PETA is now offering a $2,500 (€1,993) reward to anyone who might have some information with respect to the people who abused the marine creature in this manner, arguing that, “This helpless turtle was undoubtedly terrified by this ordeal. Perpetrators of cruel or violent acts against animals are often repeat offenders, so it's crucial that this abuser be brought to justice immediately.”

It is not difficult to guess that, once the culprit is found, legal charges will be filed and court hearings will probably soon follow.

As far as the turtle is concerned, one need not worry, as firefighters successfully rescued it from the tree.
