Konami confirms that the cover of its upcoming Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 will star Brazilian player Neymar Jr. and that a new teaser trailer shows off some brief sequences from the game, ahead of its full reveal that will take place at the end of the week, on June 12.

The Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) series from Konami isn't going through the best of times, as after having taken the lead from Electronic Arts' FIFA series, things turned back around and EA's franchise is dominating in terms of sales and popularity.

Even so, Konami is still quite dedicated to its soccer simulation series and has high hopes for the next installment, in the form of PES 2016.

The new game features Neymar Jr. on its cover

For the new title, Konami confirms in a statement that Neymar Jr., the Brazilian superstar from FC Barcelona, will grace the cover of the new game when it launches next year.

According to the Japanese company, the partnership is an obvious one, seeing as how the 23-year-old striker has just finished his best season so far at FC Barcelona, having won the UEFA Champions League just a short while ago, while captaining the Brazilian national team.

What's more, those who pre-order PES 2016 ahead of its launch will receive Neymar Jr. as an exclusive reward for the myClub mode.

"Neymar Jr. is a player that perfectly fits the PES brand, and what we want to achieve" Konami's Erik Bladinieres says. "His unique qualities and the ability to surprise goes hand in hand with the gameplay experience in PES 2016. In our anniversary year we want to celebrate the past, while look forward to the exciting future of the brand. We'll do this with Neymar Jr. leading our campaign."

A new trailer shows off brief sequences

At the same time, Konami has also brought forth a short but sweet gameplay trailer depicting Neymar and a few other football stars in the upcoming game.

The full reveal of PES 2016 will take place on Friday, June 12, so be on the lookout for more details.
