This year’s Professional Developer Conference debuts tomorrow, October 28th, 2010, and is a very small event that takes places in Microsoft’s Redmond campus instead of Los Angeles, as developers were used to. PDC 2010 is not only going to span just a couple of days, but it will also allow only a small number of participants to attend in person. Fact is that the conference has been sold out for months now, and only a lucky few are getting to attend.

But Microsoft did think ahead. Because this is essentially a mini-PDC, the Redmond company has made sure that users around the world will also get to access the content shared in the software giant’s campus.

“For those of you who are coming to Redmond, fall is one of the best times of the year to be here, and this year’s PDC is sure to get you excited. But for those who couldn’t attend this year, we will bring the action right to your PC via this link,” revealed Microsoft’s Aseem Datar.

“This year’s keynote is going to be delivered by Steve Ballmer and Bob Muglia, so be sure to hit the link above to watch it LIVE.”

And it’s no coincidence that the PDC 2010 website also features a prominent Windows Azure logo. This year’s Professional Developers Conference will be focused on the Cloud more than anything else, but also on Windows Phone 7 and Internet Explorer 9.

In case you’re expecting Microsoft to talk the forthcoming version of Windows client and server make sure not to hold your breath.

Windows 8 is simply not on the agenda. And neither is Windows vNext, I’ve checked. If the Windows 8 in 2012 announcement from Microsoft Netherlands is any indication, the software giant is still not ready to start the discussion on the successor of Windows 7.

“You can find all the detailed information regarding sessions, speakers and keynotes on the PDC home page. At the highest level, PDC10 has three tracks: Client and Devices, Cloud Services & Framework and Tools with over ten sessions in each track.

“In addition to these tracks, our friends at Channel 9 also have a ton of exciting live coverage lined up for you, and if that’s not enough, we have some pre-recorded sessions that you can watch on your clock,” Datar added.
