Acer ends up selling them through that particular retail layer

One cannot, in all honestly, call a PC a “home appliance,” but it looks like Acer has no choice but to act like that is what PCs are, in Brazil at least.

In the past, Brazil proved quite hard to penetrate by external PC suppliers, and even those brand vendors that did get a foothold there have factories in the area, for the most part (Compal Electronics and Foxconn Electronics) or have contracts with local manufacturers.

To finally be able to sell computers there, Acer supposedly entered a deal with Brazil-based home appliance retail chain Casas Bahia.

Casas Bahia is the largest such retail chain in the country and should help Acer increase sales by 25% in 2013 (they grew 20% in 2012).

14-inch notebooks will make up the core of Acer's shipment plans.
