The PCLinuxOS development team announced on March 6th the first Beta release of the upcoming PCLinuxOS 2010 Linux operating system. With a customized version of KDE Software Compilation 4.4.1 on board, PCLinuxOS 2010 Beta 1 is powered by Linux kernel 2.6.32.8 with the BFS scheduler, for an amazing desktop performance on modern 32-bit computers. The included kernel also supports machines with 4 GB of system RAM.

The included KDE SC 4.4.1 desktop environment is not only beautiful, but also includes lots of useful applications and a unified theme for both KDE4 and GTK2 programs, such as Mozilla Firefox. The main menu was redesigned and it has less subcategories, which makes it easy to find your favorite applications.
