About PCLinuxOS and PCLinuxOS GNOME

PCLinuxOS was founded six years ago, in October of 2003, by a company called Texstar, located in Houston, Texas. The PCLinuxOS distribution comes in the form of a Live CD, but it can also be permanently installed on a hard drive. PCLinuxOS uses the APT package manager and its Synaptic GUI (Graphical User Interface) frontend.

PCLinuxOS GNOME is a community created version of the original PCLinuxOS and provides those who prefer GNOME to KDE an opportunity to try PCLinuxOS while still using their favorite desktop environment. Besides the packages that are available in the original version, PCLinuxOS GNOME provides custom-made applications for GNOME.
