Probably because he was impressed with the large number of people who decided to sign the petition that supported the idea that he should be knighted by the Queen, Ozzy Osbourne decided to reward his fans and announced the release of a solo greatest hits album.

The album is going to be called “Memoirs of a Madman,” in typical Osbourne fashion, and it will be released on October 6 under labels Epic Records/Legacy Recordings. When complete, the compilation will feature 17 of Ozzy's solo songs throughout the years.

The formats supported for the new album are going to be a single CD format, a double LP set and a two-LP picture disc set. Apart from those, there will also be a DVD which is going to feature some of the classic music videos, as well as unreleased live performances and interviews.

Currently, Ozzy is still out in the world, touring with Black Sabbath, promoting their recent album, “13,” widely regarded as their last, since several of the members hinted at retirement in an interview in December of last year.

Their last performance was at London's Hyde Park last month and was part of the British Summertime Festival.
