Pavel Vrublevsky, CEO of Russian payment processor ChronoPay, has been arrested for intimidating one of the witnesses in his trial. As you may recall, Vrublevsky is accused of hiring a couple of hackers to take out a competing firm.

He was first arrested in June 2011, but was set free six months later.

Now, according to Brian Krebs – who has closely monitored the case and is writing a book about the illegal operations in which ChronoPay has been involved – Vrublevsky was arrested once again after calling up a witness and offering him “financial assistance.”

The witness told prosecutors he felt threatened and pressured by the offer.

Back in December 2012, Vrublevsky filed a lawsuit against Kaspersky Lab after the IT security giant published a series of blog posts about the trial against the head of ChronoPay.

Vrublevsky considered the posts to be defamatory, so he filed a lawsuit.
