A four-year-old Maltese is to soon be fitted with a brand new set of prosthetic limbs that will hopefully allow him to once again run and play.

Sources say that this pooch needs to be given artificial legs because of his former owner's having chopped off his real ones while trying to keeping him from jumping over the garden fence.

The people now looking after Fabio explain that the dog's back legs were cut off with the help of a machete, and that the blow was delivered precisely above the dog's paw joint.

“I just think he needs something to help the stumps to feel comfortable as they remodel through life and to keep them protected from hitting the ground,” argued veterinarian Allison Barca.

Fabio was rescued from a home in Miami and is currently being looked after in New Orleans. Hopefully, someone will be willing to adopt him once he starts feeling better.
