Starting today, April 6th, Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat are being powered by Yahoo!, which means that all Mail users are being transferred to the new service, offering them a new, faster experience.

All that they would need to do to access Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat powered by Yahoo! would include signing into their accounts and accepting the new terms and conditions.

Mail powered by Yahoo! was already put in place, and users would be able to access it on the web when signing into their accounts at http://mail.ovi.com.

“You get a faster and more powerful Mail experience with new features that make your email experience better,” a recent post on Ovi Blog reads.

“In addition, Chat users will be able to experience Chat on the web for the first time! And last but not least, if you’re a Mail or Chat powered by Yahoo! user, you can use your Nokia or Ovi account to log in to other Yahoo! services like Yahoo! News or Finance.”

However, not all features would become available for users right from the start, but should be there when the transition is completed.

Some people might not see all of their contacts and emails right from the start, caused by the fact that many Mail users and emails are migrating over, a process that is expected to be completed in a couple of weeks.

Users should allow for a couple of days before they would be able to access their old emails, contact lists, or account settings, or before they would be able to send and receive emails, and enjoy the new experience completely.

“You’ll receive an email from us once your data has been fully migrated to Yahoo!,” the aforementioned blog post continues.

Ovi Mail users have 90 days starting with April 6th, 2011, to accept the new terms and conditions and migrate to Ovi Mail by Yahoo!. While still being able to move to the new service following those 90 days, users would no longer benefit from their old data if they make the move too late.

Those of you who would like to learn more on the matter should head to the support pages put in place for them, here on Ovi and here on Yahoo!
