While AMD seems to have faith in its new HD 6000 video cards, its partners, of course, inevitably decided to give some of their own versions a performance boost, and Club 3D has now made its own move with the Radeon HD 6850 Overclocked Edition.

The new board is, obviously, a stronger version of the new mainstream card unleashed by Advanced Micro Devices.

Like the original, the card has 960 stream processors and 1 GB of GDDR5 VRAM, plus a memory interface of 256 bits. Part of the rest of the list of specifications is quite different, however.

For one, its graphics processing unit (GPU) runs at a frequency of 820 MHz instead of the reference 775 MHz. Secondly, the aforementioned 1 GB of memory is clocked at 4,400 MHz.

One of the assets of the board is the AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing (APP) technology, which allows demanding applications to run faster.

There is also support for the Dolby True HD, which allows for a “theater-quality experience.”

Furthermore, the AMD HD3D technology lets one play games in full stereo 3D on up to 3 monitors and on a single video card, not needing multi-GPU setups.

Not only that, but even the EyeSpeed technology is available, so that owners of the adapter may even watch Blu-ray movies in 3D.

Other specifications include support for OpenCL, DirectCompute 11 and, of course, CrossFireX.

As for connectivity, there are dual-DVI and DisplayPort connectors, plus even an HDMI 1.4a port with obvious support for stereoscopic 3D.

Finally, to keep heat in check, Club 3D threw in a custom, dual-slot cooler with multiple copper heatpipes and a large fan with a diameter of 92 mm.

Unfortunately, though the hardware maker did issue an official announcement, no sort of pricing details have actually been provided.
