The mass defacement has been carried out as a form of protest against India

rEd X, a member of the Bangladeshi hacker collective known as the 3xp1r3 Cyber Army, has defaced over 600 Indian websites.

The sites appear to belong to various organizations, including colleges, travel agencies, and other small businesses.

The defacement message reads “Dear Admin, secure your site.” However, this doesn’t appear to be one of those hacks in which the attacker wants to convince webmasters to properly secure their sites.

Instead, it appears to be a protest against India.

The hacker has told me in an email that the mass defacement has been possible because all the websites are hosted on the same server.

At the time of writing, most of the websites appeared to have been restored, but some of them were taken offline completely.
