Outrise is a new multiplayer shooter, in development by a joint strike team of devs assembled from experts of the gaming business, with previous experience at industry giants Ubisoft, Crytek and Adhesive Games.

The team describes the game as an asymmetrical multiplayer shooter that feels like Shadow of the Colossus meets Left 4 Dead. Outrise is still in the early stages of development and its creators are not even an official development studio yet.

The team has worked in their spare time on the project over the last 18 months, and now project lead James Wearing hopes to make their pet into something a lot bigger.

“I grew up watching RoboCop and Terminator, so I wanted to make a game that had the magic that old school sci-fi had that we don't really see any more,” Wearing, who previously worked at Ubisoft and Crytek, tried to describe the inspiration for Outrise.

From the start, he was intent on creating the game with asymmetrical gameplay in mind. He recruited friends who had worked on titles such as Star Citizen and Hawken and over the last year and a half the team is confident enough to officially reveal the game.

The developers have not yet decided on a platform and are currently looking into options for funding.

The game presents the dystopian future of 2094, where infantry rebel forces are fighting the police state's giant mechs. The ruthless police state, titled the United States Federation, is at war with the Outrise rebellion, vying for control of the world's financial system.

Outrise are a group of hackers and resistance fighters who aim to infiltrate and disable the CryptoCoin, the world's only currency system. The USF is determined to maintain its supremacy on the world.

The USF will deploy giant machines that resemble the bosses in Shadow of the Colossus. Equipped with heavy offensive capabilities, they can wipe out waves of enemies in a single move. On the other side, the Outrise will respond as an group of up to 16 players teaming up and working together in an attempt to down the boss.

“The core of it is about creating the sensation of there being one against an army, and it all being multiplayer. We haven't experienced anything like that before,” Weaver states regarding the title's gameplay.
