Rita Ora made her Oscar debut last night at the 2015 edition of the awards gala, which took place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and aired live on ABC. The singer performed “Grateful,” one of the tracks in the running for Best Song.

The Diane Warren creation, which is included on the OST of “Beyond the Lights,” didn’t win the award, which went to “Glory” from the movie “Selma,” performed by Common and John Legend. Still, Rita did her best to put on a memorable show.

You can see her performance in the video below.

Many viewers had no idea who Rita was and they immediately took to social media to ask who this blonde woman resembling Rihanna was. Others, who did know her, commented that her performance wasn’t on par with the occasion and that her voice wasn’t strong and / or good enough for a live showcasing of this particular song.

They also noted that she looked as if she was secretly dreaming of being someplace else.

I imagine whatever glitches are noticeable in her performance are down to nerves: after all, here she is, a pop star from the UK, who, having just made her big screen debut in the critically panned “Fifty Shades of Grey” (she gets only about 40 seconds of screentime, but that still qualifies as a debut), is now performing at the biggest industry award of the year.

She did ok for a first-timer, wouldn’t you agree?
