Cheerful chaos takes over the Oscars 2015 with the “Everything Is Awesome” performance

Everybody’s childhood crashed the Oscars 2015 hours ago, when Tegan and Sara, Questlove and The Lonely Island, together with an impressive (and rather random) troupe of dancers, took to the stage to deliver a rousing and oh-so-fun performance of “Everything Is Awesome.”

The song is from the “Lego Movie” soundtrack and was in the running for Best Original Song. The Award eventually went to “Glory” from “Selma,” performed by Common and John Legend, but “Everything Is Awesome” still won big time.

Video of the performance is included below. That’s Will Arnett in the Batman suit looking fierce and slightly angry, but still awesome. The performance also included dancing construction workers, an awesome possum and a dog with fleas, because of course.

However, perhaps the best part came when dancing cowboys handed Lego Oscars to celebrities in attendance, some of them nominees like Emma Stone, Steve Carrell, but not only.

Oprah and Channing Tatum also got to walk home with an Oscar - it might not be the real thing (yet), but it’s better than going home empty-handed, judging by their expression of joy.

The Oscars aren’t exactly known for being down to earth or too light in tone, so having this fun moment included was a much welcome breath of fresh air. Enjoy!
