14 DAY TRIAL // The Academy announced the nominations for the Oscars 2015 a short while ago, and in between debates on who should have and who should not have made the cut, there’s also a lot of giggling going on, especially online, over a surprise nominee named by Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs.
His name is Dick Poop and he is a cinematographer.
As you can see in the two videos below, Boone Isaacs and “some actor named Chris Pine,” as director J.J. Abrams introduced him as, presented the nominations for the biggest categories of the gala.
Boone Isaacs was either overwhelmed with the importance of the moment or she found some of the names more difficult to pronounce. Whichever it was, she struggled with one of the easiest, that of cinematographer Dick Pope, who was previously nominated for his work on “The Illusionist.”
For the briefest amount of time, he was renamed to Dick Poop and will now live in the Internet annals as the biggest gaffe on the awards circuit so far.
On the bright side, Mrs. Boone Isaacs was also duly amused, because she was giggling for some time after she realized her slip of the tongue.
