As was to be expected, the 2012 Academy Awards were riddled with emotional moments, provided by the big winners of the night, who took to the stage to collect their awards. Octavia Spencer was one of them.

The actress won her first Academy for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “The Help” and was so overwhelmed by emotion that she could hardly get her thoughts together for her acceptance speech.

Video of it is below, including the presentation from none other than Christian Bale, who won Best Actor last year.

As she went up to the stage, Octavia, who seemed to be needing a little help with her stunning gown, got a standing ovation from the audience.

This alone would have probably been enough to get her hyperventilating.

While she probably forgot to thank some people, Octavia's speech is ranked as one of the most beautiful and genuine of the night.

She was a delight to see in the film and she proved a delight to see in person – just as she was to listen to, even though there were moments when she could hardly fight back tears.

“Thank you academy for putting me with the hottest guy in the room,” Octavia said, referring to Bale, who had just handed her the prestigious award.

“I have to thank my families, my family in Alabama, the state of Alabama. My LA family watching at Stevens. Tate Burnson, Catherine, Allison Janney… I share this with everybody,” she added.

She also thanked her “The Help family,” with the camera zooming in on the other female stars, all with tears welling up in their eyes.

“Thank you Steven Spielberg for changing my life,” Octavia continued. “Please wrap up, I’m freaking out… I love you, thank you I’m sorry!” she added, rushing off stage, now sobbing almost uncontrollably.
