She’s always been a gorgeous woman, regardless whether she carried a few pounds extra or was thinner than usual. Last night, at the Oscars 2011, Penelope Cruz was more stunning than ever as she walked the red carpet hand in hand with her husband.

As fans must know, Penelope and Javier Bardem were married last summer and have welcomed their first child one month ago.

They rarely – if ever – make a big fuss on the red carpet, sometimes even choosing to go in separately so as to avoid media attention.

Since this was officially their first appearance since becoming parents and given that everybody wanted to know what she’d wear, all eyes were on them.

In all fairness, as the Daily Mail also points out, Penelope did not disappoint. She’s yet to lose the pregnancy weight but she looked, nevertheless, stunning in a body-hugging L’Wren Scott red dress.

The strappy gown featured a heavy pattern in the front, which emphasized Penelope’s maternity curves, making her more beautiful than before. Still, it couldn’t outshine her bright smile.

Cruz matched the dress with shoes by Jimmy Choo, a clutch and jewelry by Chopard.

“Penelope’s plunging L’Wren Scott red dress highlighted her stunning figure after giving birth to her son Leo Encinas Cruz a month ago,” The Daily Mail says.

The couple have yet to confirm the baby’s name, as a side note.

Javier, who was handsome as always as well, had another reason to smile on the red carpet, besides the birth of his first child: he was also nominated for Best Actor for “Biutiful,” but lost out to Colin Firth and his “King’s Speech,” the biggest winner of the night.

Bardem was decked from head to toe in Gucci and also had a watch by Chopard, to match his wife’s jewelry.

Together, they made one of the most beautiful pairs to have walked the red carpet at the 2011 edition of the Academy Awards, fashion gurus say.
