Singer Celine Dion gave birth to twins in October last year and has been spending her time at home with her extended family, doing what she says she loves the most doing: being a hands-on mom. Fans should be happy to know that she’s planning a comeback to live performing: at this year’s Oscars.

E! Online claims to have it from very reliable sources that Celine will be performing at the Academy Awards 2011 as part of the In Memoriam moment.

This marks the first time Celine takes to the stage ever since giving birth. After the Oscars, she will also start preparations to return to her Las Vegas shows, like she promised she would a while back.

“I just got word that the Grammy-winning songstress is going to perform at the upcoming Academy Awards!” E! gushes. The source spilling the beans on the performance is very reliable, admittedly.

“She’s signed on to sing ‘Smile’ during the annual ‘in memoriam’ tribute honoring the stars and industry heavyweights who passed away in the last year,” the same report says.

“Ms. Dion is certainly no stranger to the Oscars. She holds the record for the most vocal performance during the awards ceremony. This will be her sixth time. She last performed ‘I Knew I Loved You’ five years ago in honor of legendary Italian composer Ennio Morricone,” the publication further reports.

As of now, Celine’s involvement has not been officially confirmed by the Academy. However, as they say, there’s never smoke without a fire so odds are good that the above is accurate.

Last time Celine spoke about her plans for the future, she was gushing about the pleasures of being a full hands-on mom, taking care of the twins Nelson and Eddie and basically being a homebody.

“I didn’t have these children to not take care of them, to give myself to them 200 – 300 percent. I am changing diapers and breastfeeding and that’s something where no one can take my place. It’s tiring but an intense joy,” she was saying in January, as we also informed you.
