One designer who won't give up to the recession and its constraints

Lately, it has been the world of fashion in line to receive the trepidations caused by the financial crisis going on. Since the New York Fashion week, and even before that, it has been said that designers should carefully consider wise pieces of advice stating that the huge costs of putting on stage their shows need be cut off. Still, Oscar de la Renta proves to be a true "player" in the glamorous game of trying to guess just what women would desire to wear in 2009.

His pre-fall 2009 collection had its premiere last week in New York, and, despite the envious rumors saying that luxury is just so overrated these days, his fashion experiments have revealed, once more, that a true fashionista should also be a wise woman – there are gowns that a fashion-savvy girl just must have, even if their prices are not that welcoming. Next year, investment doesn't just imply a stock market transaction, but also shopping from Oscar de la Renta.

The designer made no bargains when it comes to the soft, rich fabrics, from the comfy tweed to silk and taffeta, the delicate hand-made embroideries, or the chunky gold jewelry. The collection contains four feathered cocktail dresses, each of them unique and exotic, far from the classy, discrete look the famous creator has been presenting.

His dressy gowns are meant to be extremely versatile, and can be easily worn by women of all ages – even the colors are very diverse, ranging from the lively shades of intense yellow to more earthly tones, such as deep green, purple, including the timeless dark nuances.

The fact that his collection addresses virtually everyone interested in fashion, from classy women to the more dynamic fashionistas, would probably make it a huge success. One can choose between a girlish, fresh look, given by a floral patterned knee-long silk dress, and a sophisticated appearance provided by a tweed gown, paired with a flamboyant, colorful taffeta coat, fully accessorized with biker-like studs.

La piece de resistance seems to be the gorgeous silk pants, wide-legged, matched with tunics or with the refined, feminine versions of the timeless motorcycle jackets. Many of his frocks are completed by knee long stockings, just another fab detail to be looked for the next year.
