Moviegoers came to know and love Orlando Bloom for his good-guy roles, especially in huge film franchises like “Lord of the Rings” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.” With “The Good Doctor,” he's switching it up a bit.

The dark thriller sees Bloom play a doctor with such a deep-seated sense of insecurity that he feels the need to drug the woman who gets his attention to make sure she will not leave his side.

Played by Riley Keough, she is a flirty teen with huge, blue eyes and obviously no idea about the kind of man she's taken interest in.

“The Good Doctor” premiered at the 2011 issue of the Tribeca Film Festival, with critics singing Bloom's praise.

It also stars Taraji P. Henson, J.K. Simmons, Michael Peña and Rob Morrow and will be out in theaters starting August 31.
