Video game developer Replay Games, in collaboration with veteran designer Al Lowe, has announced the release of a Kickstarter crowd funding project which aims to relaunch the classic Leisure Suit Larry game, using money drawn from the fan community.

The game will be a full remake of the original title in the series developed with Adventure Mob, a studio from Israel, and will be launched on both the PC and tablets.

The developers are planning to include new high resolution graphics, a modern take on the classic point-and-click adventure interface, fully voiced core characters.

The Unity engine will be used to create the remake for Leisure Suit Larry and the team working on the project includes Josh Mandel, Sabine Duvall, and Leslie Balfour, all of them veterans of other Sierra On-Line games.

The game will be delivered via the Steam digital distribution service from Steam and the copies will not include any sort of Digital Right Management.

Al Lowe, who is the original creator of the character, stated, “We want to do it without any pesky publishers telling us to dumb it down or to make it tamer so we can get it into Wal-Mart. We want to give you what you've been asking for, a return to the one true Larry.”

Replay and Lowe are asking for fans to fund the project with 500,000 dollars (374,616 Euro) and the limit for donations is four weeks from now.

Any extra money that the team receives will be used to create fully localized voice-overs and to port the game to other gaming platforms, including the XBLA, the PSN, the Mac, the iPhone and Android.

The rewards offered for those who contribute to the Leisure Suit Larry remake Kickstarter project include access to the alpha and beta test phase of the game, appearances in the game itself and a trip to La Vegas, where a fan will be joined by the developers themselves.
