Instances of this have thus far only been reported in teens

Scientists believe they have discovered an interesting phenomenon associated with sexual intercourse between teens. The work revealed that orgasms can sometimes be so intense that the teenagers are not left with a pleasurable feeling, but rather an extremely intense headache.

There have been, to the researchers' knowledge, no instances of such reports from adults. This immediately raises the question – could this be an age-related occurrence or phenomena?

“What I wonder about is whether there are many other adolescents out there who are having this problem and aren't telling anyone,” says University of California in San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine neurologist Dr. Amy Gelfand, quoted by LiveScience.

At this point, researchers have no clear data to explain why the explosive headaches occur after intercourse. They know that some types of headaches slowly build up (and can explain those to some extent), but the explosive type is still poorly understood.
