Mobile phone carrier Orange UK is among the first wireless operators in the world to offer a much praised feature to its customers: carrier billing for Microsoft's Windows Phone Marketplace.

This is not a common feature when it comes to Microsoft's mobile application portal, though it is expected to become one in the not too far future.

For the time being, Orange UK jumps in the same boat with Telstra and AT&T into offering carrier billing features to its Windows Phone 7 customers.

Apparently, the wireless services provider already made the feature available, and all its customers owning a Windows Phone 7 device can benefit from it.

For those who might not be familiar with the concept of carrier billing, we should note that it involves having the content purchased from the app portal billed on the monthly bill from the wireless carrier.

Basically, this means that users need no longer enter their credit card credentials, but would pay for the applications and games purchased from the software portal on the same bill with their monthly wireless services.

In short, this means increased comfort for all users, and can prove a great opportunity to personalize the Windows Phone 7 device even more than before.

According to a recent post on My Kind of Phone, the deal was put in place effective May 5th for all Windows Phone owners on Orange's network.

Of course, they would be offered the possibility to choose whether they want to pay for apps on their monthly Orange bill, or they would rather purchase them using their credit card.

“You can now choose whether to charge your Marketplace purchases directly to your Orange bill, or to a credit card. So if you are an Orange UK customer you’ll be able to take advantage of this great new billing feature effective immediately,” My Kind of Phone notes.
