Wireless carrier Orange announced today the introduction of a new mobile advertising service, 'Orange Shots.' According to the company, the new service is meant to offer brands a new solution for engaging and interacting directly with targeted segments of Orange’s customer base. Orange Shots is set to become commercially available starting with February 1, and will be initially rolled-out for those brands interested in interacting with an audience of 100,000 customers from Orange’s Pay As You Go Monkey customer base. However, the reach of the service will be expanded soon after, the carrier notes.

According to the mobile phone operator, the new Orange Shots service will enable participating brands to come up with rich, creative, engaging and fun mobile advertising campaigns that should target the preferences and interests of Orange's customers. At the same time, the carrier notes that Orange Shots will work directly with brands that are relevant to the customer audience, something that should offer a great deal of benefits for companies.

The list of benefits includes: - Real time conversation with customers happy to hear from them - A highly targeted audience base with no wastage - An opportunity to build an engaging and enduring relationship with customers as they get to know more about their profiles and interests - High response rates, strong returns on investment and great viral potential - Their brand being seen by 100,000 customers who have opted in to receive contact from organisations like them

The new Orange Shots service has been designed to work over SMS and MMS mobile platforms, while encouraging users to respond to messages with views and opinions. At the same time, users will also enjoy benefits, such as exclusive news and gossip, entertaining content, film and games previews, and more. The satisfaction of customers and brands is the main focus, Orange states, adding that users can opt out anytime they want, and that their data won't be offered to third parties. The wireless carrier also noted that the new service is expected to cover its entire customer base in time.

Marc Overton, VP of Wholesale, Business Development and Partnerships, Orange UK, stated “Orange Shots will transform mobile advertising as we know it. It’s a win-win for brands, as well as our customers, with advertisers continually seeking new and innovative ways to engage with consumers, and our customers getting rewarded with access to exclusive, interactive content and offers, knowing that they’re tailored specifically to them and their interests.”
