If we don't like it, we can change the government, Larry Ellison says

While many condemn the US National Security Agency’s surveillance programs, there are some who consider it a sort of necessary evil. One of them is Oracle’s CEO Larry Ellison.

In an interview with CBS News’ Charlie Rose, Ellison argued that organizations such as credit card companies had been collecting such information way before the NSA.

The CEO has also highlighted that US President Barack Obama sees the NSA’s surveillance programs as “essential” to prevent incidents such as the recent Boston Marathon bombing.

Ellison believes that the line would be crossed only if these programs were utilized to do “political targeting.”

“If the Democrats used it to go after Republicans. If the Republicans used it to go after Democrats,” he explained.

For those who don’t agree with the current US government, Ellison has the solution.

“The great thing is we live in a democracy. If we don’t like what the NSA is doing, we can just get rid of the government and put in a different government,” Ellison said.
