The update is now available for download via Kies desktop software

It looks like the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update has finally reached Optus customers who own Samsung Galaxy S II devices.

However, this is not the first time that Optus Galaxy S II users are teased with this update as Samsung previously released an Android 4.0 upgrade earlier this month.

Unfortunately, the update proved to be just a test firmware which was “inadvertently” rolled out by Samsung.

Obviously, that wasn’t the final version of the update, even though users did not report any problems with Android 4.0 ICS being run on their handsets.

Still, the update wasn’t available for download for too long and it wasn’t even available for all Galaxy S II owners.

Several days after the “inadvertently” released Android 4.0 ICS for Galaxy S II was removed by Samsung, Optus pushed the launch of the update to mid-April.

The good news is that Samsung has recently uploaded the update to its servers and made it available for all Optus Galaxy S II owners.

Beginning today, Optus Galaxy S II users can download the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for their devices via Samsung Kies desktop software.

According to Optus, Samsung will begin OTA (over the air) rollout of the update within the next few days.

Make sure you have the latest version of Samsung Kies before trying to download and install the Ice Cream Sandwich update for Galaxy S II.

It’s unclear whether the update is pushed in stages or Samsung made it available to everyone who owns an Optus Galaxy S II. In either case, the update may not show up in Samsung Kies at first, but we recommend users to check for it regularly.
