Although most of us sort of take reading for granted, there are quite a lot of people out suffering from various eyesight impairments that are not as lucky, and exactly for this category of users, Optelec has developed the ClearReader+, a device that allows people who are visually impaired and dyslexic to comfortable read any kind of printed material by just a press of a button within a matter of seconds. With only five controls, the Optelec ClearReader+ is touted as being of the most intuitive and user-friendly portable reading devices available in the market.

In order to operate, users will simply have to power on the unit, release the camera arm and place the reading material under the high resolution camera, equipped with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology.

Then, they'll have to oress the scan button to take a snap shot of any A4 size text, and in seconds the Optelec ClearReader+ will read the desired text in the desired language in high quality speech.

Additionally, the Optelec ClearReader+ is easily customized to read text in different speeds, in up to twelve different languages and up to twenty-three different voices.

The device also sports integrated object lighting for reading in places with poor external lighting, as well as a headphone connector that allows users to connect a headset and listen discretely.

Moreover, one can either plug the ClearReader+ into a mains adapter or employ the rechargeable Li-ion batteries providing up to 5 hours continuous use.

Carrying this thing around, while not impossible, is not exactly an easy task, since the device measures 23 x 24 x 10 cm / 9.1 x 9.4 x 3.9 inches and weighs somewhere in the vicinity of 2.46 kg / 5.4 lbs.

No details regarding the pricing have been provided just yet, but the company does inform us that the ClearReader+ should be available shortly via its usual distributors.
