Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson is looking to rehabilitate her public image after bribing scandal earlier in 2010

Earlier this year, the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, was publicly shamed as a video of her accepting bribe for access to her ex-husband Prince Andrew emerged in the media. Friend Oprah Winfrey has a piece of advice for her now stop spending like crazy.

As we also informed you at the time, Ferguson defended her actions saying she was intoxicated and so strapped for cash that she simply didn’t know what else to do. A friend of hers needed the money, she claimed.

At the time, Prince Andrew was a UK Special Representative for Trade and Investment and she promised favors with him in exchange of money.

Ferguson later changed her story, admitting that she was going bankrupt and this was what forced her to toss integrity out the window for cash. Oprah is now telling Parade she’s going about it the wrong way, as ContactMusic can confirm.

According to the Queen of Television, who is now overseeing the rehabilitation of Ferguson’s public image, she should stop spending money at the rate she’s spending right now if she wants to not be bankrupt.

Oprah also takes credit for being the one to talk Fergie out of doing a series of reality shows, also for money. It’s more important to have integrity than anything else, she tells Parade.

“She [Ferguson] started emailing me and at one point asked what did I think of her doing a celebrity chef show. I said, ‘That’s not going to help you. How are you going to rehabilitate yourself on a celebrity chef show? You should be working on yourself’,” the talk show host reveals.

“We had a real moment of connection, watching the tape of her trying to get £500,000 (for access to Prince Andrew). She said she didn’t want to go into bankruptcy,” Oprah explains.

“I said, ‘But when you look at that tape don’t you see a morally bankrupted person? The one thing you were trying to avoid, you already are.’ She said, ‘I never thought of it that way.’ I remember the last thing I said to her when I left that interview: ‘Don’t let me see you on Dancing With The Stars’,” Winfrey further says.

Ferguson eventually agreed to do a six-part documentary on her “comeback” that will air on Oprah’s new channel.
