We already know that Chinese OEM Oppo will launch its next flagship smartphone, the N3, on October 29. The smartphone will feature the same differentiation factor that makes Oppo’s high-end handsets stand out: a rotating camera.

This time, however, it appears that Oppo has decided to go a little further and upped the camera’s features a notch. Although we initially thought that the Oppo N3 would pack a 13-megapixel swivel camera, it looks like the smartphone will in fact come with a much better 16-megapxiel rotating photo snapper.

But that’s not the only improvement Oppo will bring into its N3 smartphone. According to GforGames, the company’s CEO Tony Chen offered a few more details on the camera’s new features and enhancements, which are meant to make the N3’s shutter one of the best on the market.

First of all, he shared a comparison image that shows Oppo N3’s camera features against other flagship smartphones already available on the market, such as the Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, HTC One M8, and iPhone 6 (and iPhone 6 Plus).

It appears that Oppo N3’s 16-megapixel camera will feature a 1/2.3-inch sensor, which is bigger than Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4’s 1/2.6-inch sensors by around 28%.

Both the One M8 and iPhone 6 are listed with 1/3-inch sensors, whereas the Oppo N1’s sensor boasts only 1/3.06 inches in size. This should mean that Oppo N3’s 16-megapixel camera is much better at taking pictures, but until the first samples appear online, we can’t say for sure.

Oppo N3 has many specs that have been confirmed for the Nexus 6 as well

It’s also worth mentioning that Oppo N3’s 16-megapixel camera is capable of 206-degree rotations and will also be packed with autofocus and dual-LED flash.

Oppo fans will be pleased to know that the N3 has similar specs to those of Google’s upcoming Nexus 6 smartphone. Those include a powerful 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, an Adreno 440 graphics processing unit, and 3GB of RAM.

We also know that the upcoming smartphone will boast a huge 5.9-inch capacitive touchscreen display that should support QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. This is exactly the same display that’s rumored to come within the Nexus 6 later this month.

It’s a bit weird that Oppo chose to release the N3 around the same timeframe Google is expected to introduce the Nexus 6. It’s even weirder that the N3 offers almost the same hardware capabilities as Google’s upcoming flagship smartphone does.

Oh well, there are still lots of differences between the two smartphones, including the camera and the fact that only Nexus 6 is likely to run Android L at launch.
