Chinese mobile phone maker Oppo has been long rumored to plan the launch of a successor for its Oppo Find 5 smartphone, and confirmation on the matter has emerged.

The upcoming smartphone, called Oppo Find 7, seems to have made an appearance on Oppo’s official Weibo account.

To be more precise, the company published a photo of a new handset there, without unveiling which device it actually is, but a recent article on GizChina suggests that we might be indeed looking at the Oppo Find 7.

We’re not completely certain that this is in fact the upcoming smartphone from Oppo, though it appears sure that the handset will be arriving on shelves in the not too distant future.

In fact, a second post from the same news site claims that the phone would be set to arrive on shelves as Oppo R829, and that it will be a mid-range device priced at around 2000 Yuan ($328/€242).

This phone is said to feature a 4.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720p resolution, along with a Snapdragon 600 processor inside, and 2GB of RAM.

As Oppo notes, the handset in this image comes with a holographic finish on the back plate, which might suggest that it will be launched as a premium device.

Furthermore, it will come with a rear camera with flash next to it, but without the rotating hinge that Oppo N1 was released with a few months back. It will also sport a metal frame around the edges.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the rumored specifications of the yet unannounced Oppo Find 7 include a Snapdragon 800 processor, paired with at least 2GB of RAM.

The handset should also feature support for 4G LTE networks, as well as a screen capable of delivering at least a full HD resolution. It should run under one of the latest versions of Android, perhaps 4.4 KitKat.

No specific info on when the new Oppo Find 7 might be released has been provided as of now, but chances are that it won’t be long before the handset vendor decides to lift the veil off it.

Hopefully, the smartphone will indeed prove to be the flagship Oppo handset that we’re expecting it to be, so stay tuned to learn whether things will turn out this way or not.
