14 DAY TRIAL // Chinese Oppo has just been beaten by HTC in announcing the first smartphone to feature a full HD touchscreen. However, it appears that Oppo will be in fact the first company to launch such a device on the market.
The company’s upcoming Oppo Find 5 has just been caught on camera. The smartphone is expected to go on sale in China in November, whereas HTC’s J Butterfly handset is set to hit shelves in Japan sometime in December.
The bad news is that both smartphones are unlikely to be available outside China and Japan, respectively.
Just like the HTC J Butterfly, Oppo Find 5 will boast a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 441ppi.
Moreover, the superphone will be equipped with a powerful quad-core processor build by Qualcomm, as well as 2GB of RAM.
The phone will be only 6.9mm thick, which is not unusual at all for the Chinese handset maker, which claimed the title of world’s thinnest smartphone available on the market with Oppo Finder a few months ago. The original Oppo Finder is only 6.65mm thin and hit shelves back in July.
Oppo Finder successor, the Find 5 will boast a 12-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a high-capacity 2500 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.
Software-wise, Oppo Find 5 has been confirmed to be shipped with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.
For the time being, it’s unclear whether or not Oppo will launch multiple versions of Find 5, but the folks over at MyDrive claim the 16GB model will be available for purchase in China for around 3000 yuan (480 USD or 365 EUR). Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
