Yesterday, Opera Software, the Norwegian producer, updated its last browser Opera 8. The new browser fixes a few security holes, optimizes some functions and adds new ones.

And since phishing is lurking in the shadows of the cyberspace, Opera 8.01 comes in its users' aid and fixes five flaws, such as cross-scripting and injection, which can be used by phishers to spoof sites. The spoofed sites are used by phishers to steal personal information or to run malicious code on the victim's computer.

All Opera users faced at some point some compatibility problems related to the incorrect displaying of entire pages or just of some web elements. Opera 8.01 tries to solve this issue with a concept called ?Browser JavaScript" which consists of a JavaScript file whose task is to fix the pages with rendering problems.

However, users are warned that by activating this option, which is turned off by default, they might experience some problems related to performance of the application.

If you install this update, you will find out the Norwegians have also changed the way in which browser is started. Hence, when you open the application, you will be pleasantly surprised to notice that Opera will reload the pages that were active when the browser was last closed.
