Every month, Opera releases a press report with detailed statistics regarding the mobile web. According to this report, in June 2009, Opera Mini users have accessed more than ten billion pages, with a total of 168 million MB of traffic.

This report, called "The State of the Mobile Web," provides precious information about top global trends and the mobile web's usage among its users. Month after month, Opera saw its mobile web browsing application, named Opera Mini, rise up the charts and explode in the last few months. Since its launch in 2006, the mobile web browser has grown in usage from one billion page hits in September 2007, up to the record-breaking ten billion last month.

The report concludes that there was growth in all three major categories. The number of users came up to 26.5 million, an increase of 4.2 % since May 2009 and of 143 % since June 2008. There was also a major increase in viewed pages of 8.4 % since May 2009, and of 224 % since June 2008.

Opera Mini users fell short of the 170-million-MB mark in data traffic, reaching only 168.4 million MB, up 5.6 % since May 2009 and 236 % since June 2008. But, since this category takes into consideration only compressed data, the uncompressed traffic should be around 2.6 PB.

This month's online report focuses on statistic data gathered from the Central-North America and Caribbean Region. We can see that the most viewed website in North America remains, as expected, the Google search engine, only in Costa Rica hi5 grabbing the number-one position for last month's traffic. hi5 is also the number-one social network in the Caribbean region, while Facebook ranks as number one in the Continental US for June. This comes as no surprise, since Facebook took away the lead in worldwide social networking rankings in May, from MySpace.

Worldwide, Nokia leads the rankings, closely followed by Sony-Ericsson, as the most used mobile device supplier. Nokia 6300 is last month's most used mobile device for mobile web navigation, being closely followed by Blackberry Curve. Blackberry is also the most used handset for accessing the web in Continental North America. At the top position in the Caribbean region is Sony-Ericsson, followed by Nokia and Samsung.

The top ten countries using Opera Mini are Russia, Indonesia, India, China, Ukraine, South Africa, the U.S., the U.K., Poland and Nigeria.
