Opera is making additional steps towards enabling as many users around the world as possible to take advantage of the mobile web on their devices.

The company has just announced a partnership with SingTel to optimize its Opera Mini browser to fit the needs of SingTel Mobile prepaid customers.

The new special version of the application was already made available for download through Opera’s website. Users can also download it directly on the SingTel network dialing *360.

Additionally, Opera and SingTel are running a promotion from March 31 to June 30, in which all SingTel prepaid mobile customers who download the new flavor of Opera Mini are eligible for a weekly lucky draw and get the chance to win up to $23,000 cash in all.

"SingTel is the first operator-branded Opera Mini browser in Singapore. It is a significant step for both SingTel and Opera," said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software.

“By making the mobile internet cheaper, faster and better, SingTel and Opera together will make the web more available and easier to access for more people in Singapore.”

Opera Mini is said to be the most popular mobile browser in the world. The application is being used by over 160 million people all around the world every month.

The browser is capable of compressing web pages by up to 90 percent, which means that only one tenth of the bandwidth is being used when compared to other browsers.

“In addition, instant access to your favorite sites with Speed Dial, multitasking with tabs, and the ability to sync bookmarks, notes and passwords between your computer and mobile devices with Opera Link, are some of the advantages that help users browse the web on mobile devices more efficiently,” Opera notes.

“Users can even select language and customize the Opera Mini speed dial to point directly to their personal favorite sites.”

The new SingTel-Opera Mini browser packs all of the features and capabilities that the public version includes, as well as the Speed Dial shortcuts for websites such as Gmail, Facebook, Weibo, detik.com and more.

Not to mention that the SingTel-Opera Mini browser offers users the possibility to participate in the campaign mentioned above, which will run every week from March 31 to June 30.

“A total of 13 winners are able to grab weekly prizes of $1,000, and one winner will be awarded a grand prize of $10,000. You get more chances to win, depending on how you get and share the SingTel-Opera Mini browser,” Opera and SingTel explain.

“Simply downloading SingTel-Opera Mini automatically gives you two chances to win, and you get one chance each time you share it on social media and one chance each time you tell a friend by submitting their mobile numbers. The more you share with friends, the more chances you will get to win.”
