Unitel, one of the major carriers in Angola, and Opera Software have just announced a new partnership that will provide Unitel customers with all the features of the Opera Mini browser.

Currently available for more than 3,000 mobile phone models, the Opera Mini browser offers users a faster mobile Internet experience.

The highly-acclaimed mobile app is one of the few that provides an experience close to the desktop version.

According to the company, there are more than 71 million users globally, who surf the Web with Opera Mini.

In addition to the high data transfer speeds, users are also saving on data traffic expenses due to Opera’s revolutionary data compression technology.

“Enabling our users to access the Web through Opera Mini is a gain to the company, it allows our costumers to have easy access to the Internet, browse faster and efficiently,” said Miguel Martins, CEO and Board Member of Unitel.

“This gives our customers a solid Internet experience and surfing satisfaction, which is a high priority for us.”

Unitel customers who wish to take advantage of the new service must visit http://m.opera.com/ on their mobile phones and install the Opera Mini browser from there. The application is free and does not require registration, but using it will, obviously, imply data traffic expenses.

“The vision of Opera is to provide the best possible Internet experience, on any device,” said Dag Olav Norem, VP of Mobile Products, Opera Software.

“With Unitel, we get to bring the full Internet experience of Opera Mini to even more users and show them the power of the Web to play, learn and explore.”

Unitel said that the company is providing Internet access via mobile phone for its subscribers, since 2007. Currently, the carrier has more 6 million customers, which makes Unitel the leading network operator in Angola.
