Internet browsing will stop being a feature for smartphones with prices of hundreds of dollars. Thanks to Opera's new browser, Opera Mini Browser, any of the 700 million phones with prices in the low and moderate segments will become an Internet browsing tool.

Opera Mini Browser works on J2ME (Java 2 Mobile Edition) technology and this browser's dimensions make it suitable for any mobile terminal, regardless of the amount of memory.

Moreover, Opera Mini Browser has all the features present in such a program: Bookmarks, History and the option to divide the page in several parts for a better viewing.

The technology used by Opera Mini Browser to resize the web pages so that they can be displayed on the cell phone's display is an Opera invention, called SRR (small screen rendering)

Opera has announced its plans to provide cell phone operators, content distributors and Internet companies with personalized version of this browser, which includes the logo of the providing company. The first on the list was Norwegian TV network, TV2 Interactive.

According to the company, downloading the browser is as easy as downloading a ringtone.
