Opera Software ASA has announced the release of Opera Mini 6.5, an update to their popular mobile web browser which now features a data usage meter, support for predictive typing, improved text selection and more, according to its makers.

“Do you experience slow Internet browsing? Get the fastest, most cost-efficient web-browsing experience for your iOS device today,” says Opera Software.

“Keep Opera Mini handy on your iOS device, especially for those unavoidable times you are on a slow crowded network, away from Wi-Fi or when data roaming. Opera's powerful servers compress data by up to 90% before downloading, so page loads are lightning fast,” the company adds.

Version 6.5 of the mobile web browser adds a data usage meter showing how much data you save; support for predictive typing, including domain suggestions, and auto-correct; star in the URL field for instant bookmarking; the ability to perform a direct search from the address bar; email sharing; improved text selection and compression with support for WebP images.

Various stability and bug fixes have also been implemented, according to Opera Software. The company now touts the following key benefits with its mobile web browsing app:

► Speed: Up to 6 times faster browsing, especially when on slower or crowded networks ► Data Savings: Compress up to 90% of data traffic ► Speed Dial: Get to your favorite Web sites with a single tap ► Visual Tabs: See all your open Web pages and quickly switch between them ► Opera Link: Synchronize your bookmarks and Speed Dial with a Desktop PC or other mobile phone

If you’re the type that often browses the web on the go, the Norwegian developer says you can save lots of time and money by using Opera.

I can tell you from experience that the iPad version is by far the best tablet web browser I have used. Admittedly, I’m an avid fan of the Opera web browser, both mobile, and desktop.
