Opera released today the 4.1 version of Opera Mini, the popular mobile browser compatible with almost any handset out there. After the 4.1 beta version, which came out at the beginning of April, users can now enjoy the final 4.1 version, for free (as any of the previous releases).

Opera 4.1 brings several significant improvements to the 4.0 version. First of all, its developers say the new browser is with up to 50% faster than the "old" one, hence mobile users will get to visit and check out websites at a speed never achieved before. Furthermore, Opera Mini 4.1 features automatically URL completion, allowing users to type only the beginning of a Web address in order to access it, much like they'd do when using a desktop browser.

The new version of the Mini browser provides quick and easy access to a word / expression / phase directly from the Web page you are visiting and it also lets you save Web pages, in case you want to view them later (while offline). The last major improvement that Opera Mini 4.1 brings is the fact that users can now download content (ringtones, images and so on) directly from the browser.

Jon von Tetzchner, Opera's Chief Executive Officer, said in a press release issued today: "More than 44 million people from all over the world have discovered and fallen in love with Opera Mini. Those people are not just the users of Opera Mini, they are also the co-creators and our most valued critics of the product. We have actively talked to our community members in order to build the best Web browser for mobile phones. I strongly believe that the newest version of Opera Mini will be received with much excitement."
