A brand-new flavor of the Opera browser is now available for download for the owners of Android-based devices out there, namely version 22.

The new application iteration comes to handsets and tablet PCs with a nice range of enhancements packed inside, as well as with new features and fixes.

One of the most important additions to the new app iteration is the possibility to easily manage tabs though simple gestures.

“With the new Opera for Android, managing your tabs is only a tap away. Now, you can close tabs with a simple gesture – from the tab manager, just swipe up tabs you don’t need,” the company explains in a blog post.

Moreover, the application will also allow users to easily undo close tabs, or to re-open any of the recently closed tabs by pressing the menu button in the tab UI.

The menu will appear at the bottom of the screen, which is expected to prove highly convenient for those people who are using their phones with a single hand. Moreover, the app allows users to actually change this configuration in the settings menu, where they can set App layout to Classic.

At the same time, the mobile app allows users to change other UI elements as well, while also providing them with an improved Discover section now. The Chromium version has been updated to 35 in the new release.

The new Opera for Android makes browsing faster and simpler than before, as it comes with a better-looking and better-working overview mode in the Discover feature, allowing users to move to the next article by swiping to the right.

On top of that, the app now comes with better download management capabilities, allowing users to pause a download and to resume it when they want.

“Now, it’s possible to do proper resuming when a download fails or being paused. Have you had problems with downloading large files? We’ve now fixed a recent issue so big downloads no longer fail when using Off-Road mode,” the company announces.

At the same time, Opera notes that the new app iteration has been released with a fix for a mobile-specific security issue.

“One mobile-specific security issue was fixed in this release. In some cases, Opera could end up showing the wrong URL in the address bar, which would allow spoofing. This issue has now been fixed, and we would like to thank moonflow for reporting the issue to us,” the company says.

You can download Opera for Android from Softpedia today. The new app iteration is available as version 22.0.1485.78333, though the classic Opera app is also available there.
