Opera web browser has just received a brand new update that brings several enhancements on Windows and Mac OS X, including new themes and silent updates.

If Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox aren't quite your cup of tea and you're now looking into some other browsers, there's no doubt that Opera 22 is at least worth a short.

The new version comes with new default themes, while also retaining features that allow users to download more from the Internet or even create their own with locally-stored wallpapers.

“We have gone through considerable effort to make Opera look slick and modern, while still blending in nicely with it’s surroundings. Since our browser was born in Norway, we decided to take Opera’s look a step further by selecting five new, inspiring themes that showcase the local scenery. They complement Opera and add a touch of Scandinavian style to your desktop. We hope you like them as much as we do!” the developing team explained today.

Of course, if you'd like to change the default theme and go for a new one, simply access the Opera menu, click on “Themes” and either pick one of the existing items or get a new one from the online collection.

At the same time, Opera 22 also comes with silent update engine, with the developing team claiming that this is the last version that displays the update dialog.

This change was needed because the browser is updated more often these days and users do not really want to be bothered whenever a new version is being released.

“With Opera 22, we have introduced a new silent-update mechanism on Opera for Windows. This update will be the very last time you seen that irritating authentication dialog while surfing the net. From now on, you can browse away without distraction, and feel safe knowing Opera is always up to date and secure,” the parent company said.

The feature lineup of the browser remains pretty much unchanged beside the features mentioned above, so you get the same clean interface with an appealing design that makes browsing fast on both Windows and Mac.

If you're already running the stable version of Opera, it's enough to simply restart the browser to get the latest update. Otherwise, you can also click on the download links below to get the version that works on your computer if you're running either Windows or Mac OS X.
