Opera Software is now pushing out development snapshots of the first minor update for Opera 10.50 at the rate of one per day. As far as the Norway-based browser maker is concerned, this is nothing short of a good sign, indicating that the final release of Opera 10.51 is just around the corner. Fact of the matter is that, last time it was “raining” Release Candidates of Opera, version 10.50 was made available for the general public. There’s no reason for Opera Software to change its development strategy now.

In this regard, users should be getting their hands on Opera 10.51 Final anytime soon, although the browser maker has failed to make public a specific release deadline. “This is the third release candidate for Opera 10.51 for Windows. It fixes the following issues: Fixed CARAKAN-1187 (Crash when scrolling page) and Fixed CARAKAN-1191 (Date pickers on several travel sites fail),” a member of the Opera Desktop team revealed.

A total of three RC builds were offered to testers in the past five days, the last two today and yesterday. And even the small increments in terms of the build string are also pointing to the proximity of the final release of Opera 10.51. Opera Software is currently merely perfecting v10.51 for general availability.

Still, users should be aware of the fact that Opera 10.51 is designed to resolve issues that survived past the GA deadline for Opera 10.50, and will not represent a major evolution in the browser. At this point in time, Opera Software did not make public any details related to the next generation of its proprietary browser. However, considering the work done on Internet Explorer 9 so far, according to the MIX10 demos, Opera Software needs to step up its game if it is to continue banking on the superiority over IE, as its best sales pitch.
