Anonymous hackers continue the campaign dubbed Operation Syria, or OpSyria. Their latest target is the Syrian Patent Office (spo.gov.sy) from which they’ve leaked a total of 80 Mb of documents and images.

The files published by the hacktivists, at least the ones written in English, don’t appear to contain sensitive data. The documents represent memos, information on patents, legislation, brochures and various registration forms that have been allegedly stolen from a file server on the Syrian Patent Office’s networks.

“Greetings from Anonymous. Lately we've been on a roll, having fun looting everything we can get our hands on. Even as we search through their data and the vulnerabilities roll in by the bucketload, we continue to pile on our personal collection of Bashar's property,” the hackers noted next to a link that points to the leaked data.

They refuse to reveal how they’ve gained access to the information. However, they claim they’ve been working in “concentrated and effective teams” to make sure their operations are carried out “swiftly and properly.”

While the hackers claim that OpSyria is not just about hacking, but about helping the Syrian people, it also appears to be a method of provoking the Syrian Electronic Army.

“As we move along with each further release, we can practically see red faced SEA watching their beloved regime get leaked over and over again by a collective they declared war upon,” the hackers said.

On the other hand, in a recent interview with The Daily Dot, the hackers have claimed that the Syrian Electronic Army is not one of their priorities.

“We turned our attention to the SEA back in September for a short while because they allegedly said fighting words against what Anonymous was doing. In the end we realized that the SEA is merely a small distraction that hasn't much power at all,” they noted.

A couple of days ago, the same hackers targeted Syria’s Higher Commission for Scientific Research.
