OnyX, the powerful maintenance tool from Titanium’s Software, has been updated to version 2.1.4, which brings a number of enhancements and fixes. OnyX is a general-purpose utility that enables users to optimize how OS X works, as well as to manage some of the processes behind most applications. OnyX can manipulate everything from the Finder, Dock, Dashboard, Expose, and Safari to the Login window, and the hidden settings of some of Apple's own applications.

While the software features diagnostic tools, it also allows users to delete caches and remove a certain number of files and folders that may become cumbersome, acting as a cleaning utility. OnyX provides the option to see detailed info of one's configuration and to save a Desktop before modifying and relaunching the Finder.

Users can modify its appearance – window transparency, the icon, the toolbar icons, and more. Working with all PowerPC and Intel computers running Mac OS X version 10.5 (Leopard), or Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard (Intel only), OnyX is available in any desired form. Versions supported by Mac OS X 10.4 (OnyX for Tiger), Mac OS X 10.3 (OnyX for Panther) and Mac OS X 10.2 (OnyX for Jaguar) are also available.

According to the release notes issued by Titanium’s Software, OnyX 2.1.4 correctly deletes font caches and the Software Update log. It brings the option to enable/disable mouse-over on stacks displayed in grid-mode, and modifies the automation panel. Deleting the Internet Cache is also improved, while miscellaneous modifications and improvements have also been made.
