Although I though that I can't be shocked anymore by all the things that manage to come out of Japan, I have to admit this Snoopy-themed Windows tablet is making me rethink that, especially considering this was developed by such a well known and respected company as Onkyo.

Designed in order to be released on the local market, this Windows 7 running slate with a Snoopy drawing on the back, comes pre-loaded with all your Snoopy essentials such as special screensavers, Snoopy wallpapers, icons, a Snoopy calendar and a bunch of other stuff.

Furthermore, in order to keep with the Snoopy theme, this also comes with a a Snoopy stylus, and a special “Peanuts” case to make the package complete.

Fortunately this is all the Snoopy we get out of Onkyo, the rest of the specs being a lot more down to earth as this is basically a rebranded 10.1 inch Windows 7 slate that features an 1.66GHz Atom N450 processor as well as 1GB of RAM.

Storage is provided thanks to a 160GB hard disk drive, an SD card slot being also available for viewing camcorder footage or the snapshots taken with your camera.

Speaking of cameras, this also features a webcam for video conferencing, in the connectivity department the slate featuring IEEE 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR as well as two USB ports.

Although we do know the screen will come with an 1024x600 resolution, Onkyo doesn't mention what type of touch sensitive technology this thing uses, although judging by the stylus I am inclined to thing this is a resistive screen.

End of it all, the Snoopy tablet weighs 990g and has am estimated battery life of about 4 hours, the device being available for pre-order right now priced at about $960, shipping being set for March next year. (via CrunchGear)
