But surprisingly, it looks like it will be a four issue mini series after all

Marvel's new Halo: Uprising mini-series announced last summer is finally going to be released, not as an ongoing monthly series (as it was originally announced), but as a four issue mini-series. Why? Beats everyone, but luckily a fan finally asked this very question in a Newsarama interview with Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada:

"I think I remember Halo being announced as an ongoing (though I might be wrong). Was it always planned to be the Halo Uprising mini-series in the July solicits? If not, was their any reason why it was turned into a mini-series, and can we expect a Halo ongoing/more mini-series by Mr. Bendis in the future? I have been looking forward to this ever since the amazing graphic novel."

Qesada turned the question over to editor Ruwan Jayatilleke, as 1UP reports. The answer...

"It is a monthly series of mini-series that will explore different aspects of the Halo mythos. It was always planned to be a series of contained stories that Bungie and Marvel felt would further entertain fans of the epic videogame franchise as well as provide a gateway for new fans to step in and be captivated."

Jayatilleke continues commenting that Halo: Uprising creators and Marvel talents Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev are momentarily focused on this first mini-series, but "if Brian and Bungie wanted to collaborate and tell more stories&we would work something out." It would be nice to see everything fall into place so nicely with Halo: Uprising, just like with the other Marvel comics, wouldn't it?

Things look good though! Not only is Bendis a beloved and talented writer at Marvel, but he is also a big fan of the Halo franchise, so as 1UP points out, the more he's involved with the Halo comics, the better. Expect more news on Halo: Uprising soon.
