In a long post for on its official blog, Chinese company OnePlus explains customers what they will get in the coming weeks in terms of software updates.

As many of you probably know by now, the handset maker is now focused on getting out its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 2 which is expected to arrive at some point in Q3 2015.

Until then though, there are many Android fans that purchased the company's OnePlus One popular smartphone and want their devices to be updated as quickly as possible.

Well, it looks like those who own the CynaogenOS-based OnePlus One are in luck since the Chinese company has confirmed Android 5.1 Lollipop for Cyanogen OS 12.1 is on its way.

According to OnePlus, a preview build is already undergoing factory testing and Google certification, which means that OnePlus One owners might get it very soon.

The next major update should be available in Q3 2015

However, customers that own the OxygenOS-based OnePlus One will have to wait at least a few months for the same update to arrive on their smartphones. Here is the company's official statement regarding this particular update:

“The entire team is currently heads down working on the release for the upcoming OnePlus 2. We have a small team which means in order to do our best work, we need to focus.

“This unfortunately means that we won't have an OTA for the community build of OxygenOS we released back in April for the OnePlus One until after the OnePlus 2 release.”

But there is some good news as well since OnePlus confirmed that it would offer a touchscreen fix for those who have been affected by the problem. This fix will be available very soon, so OnePlus One owners won't have to wait until Q3 for the update.

“We will put up a new build very soon with the touchscreen fix for those of you who are experiencing this problem but we won't have an official update until we have the resources to do a proper job.”
